In 1998, the SYMINGTON family, an important wine owner in the Douro valley, teamed up with BRUNO PRATS, one of the most prestigious winemakers in Bordeaux, to together produce a reference red wine in the Douro. Chryseia is vinified with prolonged macerations, in the Bordeaux style, in the small, specialized Roriz winery and then ages for 14 months in new 400-liter French oak barrels in the farm’s schist warehouse. Chryseia symbolizes the union of the noble Portuguese wine-growing heritage with the no less rich Bordeaux oenological tradition.
